Old Car City

My wife, Niki, and I recently returned from a short visit to Atlanta, GA for a family event, but took a few hours off to visit Old Car City in White, GA, about 75 miles north of Atlanta.  What an amazing place!  It claims to hold the world's largest collection of pre-1972 American cars and pick-up trucks.  They sit on 34 acres with over 4,500 cars and trucks, situated around 6 miles of trails.  This is truly a photographer's paradise!  The day we went started out perfectly, as the sky was overcast until near the end of our time there.  This helped avoid harsh shadows in the woods.  To do the place justice, you should plan to spend a minimum of 2 days there.   We barely scratched the surface during our 3 hours there.  And just in case, bring some insect repellent with you...the mosquitoes were fierce!  The car below is one of the few that was covered somewhat in a shelter.  It is a fine specimen.  The colors, details and texture produced by the aging process are spectacular.  This is a place well worth the visit if you are ever in the Atlanta area.  To view more photos from Old Car City, visit my website (www.garyjkohn.com).
